Michael Jordan
In the autumn of his second year of high school, he was left off the varsity team. Thirteen years later, on 12 June 1991, he stood at the summit of the NBA. That year was one of the two void years that return every twelve years. On that day, the ten-year current and the one-year current locked onto the centre of his destiny at once, completing a single great form. After the first three-peat he lost his father and retired; eighteen months later he returned and won three more. Jensen Huang of NVIDIA was born on the very same day. Why did one destiny produce two separate summits? His life, set against the phases of destiny and time.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- A destiny of the weakest self, following one direction with complete purity — the highest-ranked chart of that form.
- 1991 was a void year. On 12 June, the ten-year and one-year currents bound to the centre of his destiny and completed one great form. That day he won his first title.
- He carries the star by which a parent’s help sets fortune in motion. In July 1993 he lost his father; three months later, at the summit, he announced his retirement.
- He carries a star that cannot fully retire. In March 1995 he returned and won a second three-peat. He retired and returned twice in his life.
- Jensen Huang was born on the same day, 17 February 1963. Two men with the same destiny and the same ten-year currents reached the summit in separate fields.
