Momoko Sakura
Chibi Maruko-chan, Coji-Coji, Momo no Kanzume, Saru no Koshikake, Odoru Pompokolin. Maruko, a third-grader living in the town of Shimizu in Shizuoka, with her family, Grandpa Tomozo, Tama-chan and Hanawa-kun. Momoko Sakura (Miki Miura) took the small moments of everyday life that everyone has passed through and, through observation and laughter, turned them into a story for the whole nation. As a manga artist, as an essayist and as a lyricist, she opened many fields from a single desk. On 31 December 1990, Odoru Pompokolin, for which she wrote the lyrics, won the Japan Record Award. She was twenty-five, in the middle of the decade in which the forces that protected her came round. And that month fell in a blank period of fortune. Why did the everyday life of a girl from Shimizu become the nation's story? What was this vessel promised at birth? We read the vessel she was born with against the phases of destiny and time.
