Tetsuo Hara
Fist of the North Star, Hana no Keiji, Fist of the Blue Sky, Ikusa no Ko. "You are already dead." Kenshiro with seven scars on his chest, Raoh, and Maeda Keiji. Tetsuo Hara drew fighting men with overwhelming force and built the summit of gekiga. He submitted work from his high-school years, was turned down by the artist he hoped to assist, and his first serialisation ended after ten chapters. He decided that if the next one failed, he would give up. The next one was Fist of the North Star. On 11 October 1984 the TV anime began, and the series became a social phenomenon. He was twenty-three, on a day when the force that tempers and enlarges his vessel stood on three layers of time at once: the decade, the year and the month. Why did the summit come straight after defeat? What was this vessel promised at birth? We read the vessel he was born with against the phases of destiny and time.
