Buronson
Fist of the North Star, Doberman Cop, Sanctuary, Heat. Kenshiro, successor of Hokuto Shinken in a wasteland after nuclear war; Raoh, the King of Fists; and two men climbing to the summit of Japan from the light and from the shadows. Writing as Buronson for boys' magazines and as Sho Fumimura for adult ones, Buronson (Yoshiyuki Okamura) wrote stories that set readers alight. He joined the Air Self-Defense Force at fifteen, and his way as a manga writer opened when he went to work in the studio of Hiroshi Motomiya, a former fellow serviceman. On 13 September 1983, Fist of the North Star began serialisation. He was thirty-six; it was a year in a blank period of fortune, and also a year in which the force missing from his destiny entered from two layers of time, the decade and the year. Why was a national story born in a blank year? What was this vessel promised at birth? We read the vessel he was born with against the phases of destiny and time.
