Konosuke Matsushita
A boy sent out as an apprentice at nine built, within one lifetime, a business begun in a two-mat rented room into a global company. He was the founder of Matsushita Electric (now Panasonic), called “the god of management.” He founded the company three years after his marriage. Its incorporation and the starting point of its post-war rebuilding were both placed in void years. Why those years? And why did the succession pass to ties that came from outside the bloodline? From birth to his death at ninety-four, set against the phases of destiny and time.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- A destiny with much missing — a void in the seat of society, and a hidden knot between year and month that gives birth to dreams.
- A destiny whose fortune begins to move with marriage: two years after marrying he went independent, and three years after, he founded the business.
- The key moments of the first twenty years — the declaration of mission and the incorporation — fall inside the decade in which ancestral grace is at work.
- The incorporation and the start of post-war rebuilding were both placed in void years. Even so, the business endured on a global scale.
- At the bottom of the decade that drains the energy supporting his life, the calendar of his birth year came round and revival began.
- The succession passed to ties that came from outside the bloodline — and those ties continued across generations.
- He yielded the summit, returned to the front line as an acting head, and withdrew in the year he announced he would withdraw.
