Koyoharu Gotouge
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family is taken by demons, and the swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps grew from a serial in Weekly Shonen Jump into a national phenomenon. Its sales broke record after record, the film Mugen Train rewrote Japan's box-office history, and the work spread across the world. Yet its author has never shown a face or revealed a background, sending only the work out into the world. In April 2019 the television anime began, and the work exploded. What overlapped in the author's spacetime at that moment? Why was the serial closed by its own author in May 2020, at the very peak of its popularity? We read the structure of the time in which a world-moving dream was realised, and what comes round after it, against the phases of destiny and time.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- This destiny carries the highest capacity for wealth and fortune, together with a condition under which it collapses.
- The year the work exploded worldwide lay inside a special span of time in which the frame of fortune comes off.
- In that year, the time that came round struck the birth pillars twice over.
- Just after the work exploded worldwide, the ten-year phase changed.
- A relationship emerges between a life lived out of sight and the type this destiny actually describes.
