Eiichiro Oda
One Piece. The voyage of Monkey D. Luffy and the crew who share his ambition has continued as a single story since its serialisation began in 1997. It has been certified by Guinness World Records as the comic series by a single author with the most copies published, and has spread from television anime and feature films to a live-action drama streamed worldwide. On 22 July 1997 the serial began in Weekly Shonen Jump. What overlapped in the author's spacetime on that day? Why has this story achieved a success that people call the greatest in the world? We read it against the phases of destiny and time, through the final saga now being drawn and on to 2027, when the starting point of his destiny comes round again.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- His destiny holds almost nothing that obstructs, and its most reliable strength stands in plain view — a destiny of the highest grade.
- The twenty years in which he established himself as an artist lay inside a special span of time in which the frame of fortune comes off.
- The serial began within that span, on a day that coincided with his own birth pillars.
- In the decade after the frame closed, he reached a world record.
- In 2027, the starting point of his destiny comes round again.
