Teruyuki Kagawa
Hanzawa Naoki, Ichikawa Chusha IX, a character actor and graduate of the University of Tokyo. He was born to a kabuki-actor father and an actress mother; his parents parted when he was small, and he was raised by his mother. In the year he became an actor he went to see his father, but was not accepted. Twenty-two years later he was reconciled with his father and succeeded to a kabuki name. The following year he reached the summit with a national drama. Then, in the summer of 2022, a single press report shook all he had built. On that day three layers of time stood together on the pillar of his birth year. With a destiny that does not succeed its father, why did he take his father’s name? We read his sixty years against the phases of destiny and time.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- His destiny carries a structure that grows along a road separate from his parents’. In the same chart, elements that seek his father close by also stand side by side.
- His early childhood apart from his father and his teens fall within twenty years in which the element most supportive of his destiny came round. Within them he went on to the University of Tokyo.
- 2012, the year he succeeded to his father’s name, was a year of void fortune. The summit of the national drama the following year falls within the same two void years.
- The summit of 2013 and the press report of 2022 both fell in years of the great turn that comes round once every nine years.
- From December 2026 he enters twenty years of void fortune.
