Napoleon Hill
Desire, faith, planning, action — Think and Grow Rich sets out a philosophy of success in thirteen principles, and nearly ninety years after publication it is still read worldwide as a source of the modern self-help genre. Its author, Napoleon Hill, said Andrew Carnegie urged him into a study he pursued for twenty years, examining more than five hundred successful people to systematise their laws. Yet his own life ran through failed ventures and a fortune lost in the Great Depression. At what moment in time did the man who taught success bring this book into the world? We read what overlapped at its publication in March 1937 against the phases of destiny and time.

Research Brief
What the case shows
- His destiny binds self and society with the greatest possible force, while carrying a gap in the realm of the mind.
- His mother's death, the publication of his system, the crash and the patron of his later years fall in the same kind of year, twelve years apart.
- His great book and his fame were born inside a twenty-year void that began in the year of the crash.
- In the month of publication, the same cycle as his own day pillar returned.
- The theme of his book — that the mind is mirrored in reality — appears as the output of his destiny itself.
